You might think Malcolm Turnbull is purely pragmatic and does not have any ideology. Think again.
We often hear the idea from political commentators and politicians that Malcolm Turnbull does not believe in anything. That he is just a pragmatist. That he is not ideologically driven. That he will do whatever he thinks will win no matter what the ideological position.
Do not believe it. Do not believe it for a second.
This idea is not just applied to Malcolm Turnbull but to the inner circle of Liberal leftist lackeys as well.
The comments we hear are often along the line that the current leaders of the Liberal government are taking a pragmatic course. They are just doing their best to win the next election. They are just doing what they can get through the Senate.
Rubbish.
This is not what is happening. Malcolm Turnbull and the leftists are systematically steering the government towards the left. They are not reacting to the limited opportunities available. They are implementing an agenda.
Notice how Climate Change has slowly crept back into Liberal prominence. This did not happen by accident. Malcolm Turnbull did not trip over an old paper on Climate Change that Julia Gillard had left lying around the Prime Minister’s office: “What’s this? Climate Change, eh. I might give that a try”. No, Malcolm Turnbull has been pushing Climate Change for many years. Now that he has his chance, he is trying to implement his agenda.
And it is not just Climate Change. They are attempting to move a range of leftist policies through the system. For instance, they are now spending huge amounts of tax payers’ money to fund socialist ‘education’. Just another accident? Sure, it is.
These things are not being done for purely pragmatic reasons.
Is Climate Change and renewable energy a vote winner? No. Is Gonski education a vote winner? No. These things appeal to various left wing interests but these people will never vote Liberal. And yet these are polices Malcolm Turnbull and his leftist lackeys have been pursuing.
And there is great celebration when Mal and the leftists get legislation through the Senate. Well, whoopee-do. What is the point in getting the wrong legislation through the Senate? That is worse than useless. And yet, this is what they are doing.
And of course they are not working to unleftify the government. The ABC has been allowed to continue on its leftist way. And the so called Human Rights Commission has not been undone.
It is true that Malcolm Turnbull can be a pragmatic politician. He is certainly capable of bending with the political wind. He can dress up his policies to make them seem more mainstream and not so madly left. But they are essentially mad leftist policies. He is good at disguising his ideological intent.
Malcolm Turnbull does believe in things. They are just not the things the right of the Liberal Party believes in. But do not think he does not have an ideology.
And do not think that he does not have an agenda.
Malcolm Turnbull does believe in something. However, it might be the wrong thing.
